About Eleanor and Park:
Eleanor and Park is the first young adult novel that was written by Rainbow Rowell. It was published in 2013. The story follows dual narratives by Eleanor and Park that are two misfits living in Omaha, Nebraska from 1986 to 1987. Eleanor, a full-figured 16-year-old girl with curly red hair and park was a half Korean, 16-year-old boy. They meet on a school bus on Eleanor’s first day at the school and gradually connect through comic books and mix tapes of 80’s music, sparking a love story. The main theme of this book is Eleanor desperately seeks for a way to get out of her everyday house and Richie, even though she knows that would mean leaving the park behind. Richie was the step-father of Eleanor and he abuses the kids by hitting them when they do something wrong as well as verbally abusive. She was facing bullying at school and at home. At school, her classmates bully her about her size, her hair, and her clothes. Eleanor is constantly bullied about her size. She starts to wear large size clothes. Eleanor does not hate being fat but dislikes how much of an outcast becomes because she looks different than anyone else. Park loves each and everything about Eleanor including the body type. The American Library Association gave the book a 2014 Michael L. Prints Award Honor book for excellence in young adult architecture. Calling Eleanor and Park an honest, heart-wrenching portrayal of imperfect but unforgettable love, The New York Times Book named it one of seven Notable children books of 2013. In 2014, it was announced that DreamWorks had purchased the rights to make an adaption film on Eleanor and park but in 2016 the writer of the novel Rowell confirmed that the film was no longer in development and the rights were back with her.

Rainbow Rowell was born on 24th February 1973. She is an American author of young adult and adult contemporary novels. Her young adult novels Eleanor and park, fan girl, and carry on have been subjects of critical acclaim. In 2013, Rowell published Fangirl and Eleanor and Park, another young adult novel. Both were named by The New York Times as among the best young adult fiction of the year. Eleanor and Park were also chosen by Amazon as one of the 10 best books of 2013.
